First club night in Bergen
August 13th, 2005
I arrived at Geir’s place at around 7.30pm. He really has a great appartment situated in a very nice neighborhood (Sandviken).
After a huge salad we ate Bacalao - which is dried codfish with tomatoes and lots of other stuff. It was the first time I ate codfish - which is typically norwegian (top export) - and it tasted really good.
He also invited a canadian student of poltical science, a japanese sushi chef and an english engineering trainee working in petroleums. So we were a very international group interested in lots of different fields. The dinner was very nice and I enjoyed the conversations a lot.
After the dinner we were going to a club called Kvarteret in the center of Bergen. It is a student club and has three different areas - the place is quite big.
In the basement the DJ played mainly Funk/HipHop and on the first floor they were playing Reggae. Clubs in Norway - I think all indoor places - are non-smoking, which is great, because it means that you can dance and party without smelling like an ash-tray the next day. Kvarteret had a special outdoor terrace for smokers - there you weren’t allowed to drink after 1am. So drinkers and smokers got well seperated.
The club is cool, not to expensive and all students. I took the photo to the right on sunday.
We stayed there until it closed at 3am and then went over to Geir’s place. As I didn’t know how to get back to Hatleberg that late, I stayed at his place. I woke up at around 12:30 and took the regular bus home.
