Arrival in Bergen
August 8th, 2005
I arrived in Bergen today. Both flights from Cologne to Oslo and from Oslo to Bergen were perfect. Two very kind NHH-students got me and another german exchange student at the Bergen Flesland Airport. The wether was nice with clear blue sky and around 20 °C.
First stop Fantoft: there I signed my accomodation contract and paid the deposit of 2500 NOK. Contrary to my prior announcements I did bribe the housekeepers to get a room with bay view and did not get such a room.
Next stop: The Hatleberg Studenthjem. The building is not very nice from the architectural point of view and the elevator smells like garbage… First impression not that good.
My room is on the 6th floor of block D and has the view over the hills at the back of the building. The view is not bad at all and the room has one big advantage to the rooms overviewing the bay: the highway is on the bayside of the building and rather noisy. So don’t be worried, if you don’t get the room with the bayview. I can enjoy the view from the kitchen and sleep without noise the night.
I will publish the first photos of the studenthjem and Bergen in the upcoming days.
